Remove the image with the search widget

This may be a stupid question (or an easy one) but I'm trying to remove the stupid little astronaut and the background with it that is on the Employee Center homepage. 

I think it is all part of the "How Can We Help" widget but I can't find where I can remove the picture but keep the search part of it.

The background image you’re seeing is part of the Employee Center homepage container

You can update or remove it by editing the first container on the Employee Centre homepage:

Steps:

1. Navigate to Service Portal Configuration → Designer

2. Open the Employee Center Home Page

3. Select Container 1 (the top container with “How can we help?”)

4. In the container settings, update or remove the Background Image

5. Save your changes

This will remove the background image while keeping the search functionality intact.

Indeed - The astronaut and the background are part of the “How can we help?” hero, not the search itself. The search box just happens to live inside that hero component.

The cleanest way to handle it is:

• Open Employee Center in UI Builder

• Click the “How can we help?” component

• In the right-hand config panel, look for options like Background image, Illustration, or Hero image

• Clear or disable those, but leave Search enabled

In most versions right, that removes the astronaut while keeping the search box exactly wherre it is.

If your version doesn’t let you turn off just the image:

• Delete the hero entirely

• Add a Search component on its own at the top of the page

That gives you full control and avoids hacks.

CSS hiding is possible, but its basically a last resort; UI Builder config or swapping the component is much cleaner and upgrade safe.
