Deactivate/retire an Entity type

We are fairly new to GRC and are in the process of setting up our entity framework.

However, due to a recent business re-org. we need to deactivate a specific entity type and replace it with 4 new entity types that will take on the existing risks and controls.

Because the old entity type is mapped to existing risk statements and control objectives we are not sure about the process for de-activating/retiring it. I understand it is probably a manual process for mapping risk statements to the 4 new entity types.

Any clues would be most welcome, is there any training that covers this?

I think you have to delete that entity only that is way forward I guess.

Hi @Nick T ,

It's not a straight forward approach to Retire a Enity type , if you retire/Delete a Entity type then the Controls and risks associated with the entities under this entity type will be retired and the association with policies, control objectives, risk frameworks and risk statements will also be deleted as part of this execution.

So, before you proceed with deletion, make sure Entities that are not related to any other record and please look into the sn_grc_item_generation table. Set the 'running' status to complete for the entity part of the entity type you are cleaning up.
