Has anyone used GRC article templates in a customized way?
Like, if I have a parent Policy record, and a few children Policy records, then if I want to show the children policies grouped by type as collapsible content on the KB article of the parent Policy record
- is it possible?
- Is there any example of each type - "Script", "HTML" and "XML" I can refer to?
- I have seen some community questions on this, where the answer refers to something called "Incoming" and "Outgoing" templates. (https://www.servicenow.com/community/grc-forum/grc-html-article-templates-for-policies/m-p/1304300) I do not understand what they are referring to. Any insights will be appreciated.
- If there is a way to set up these GRC Article templates, do they reflect on the KB article on Employee Center portal?

Hi @Kirthika D ,
- Policy KB article can be changed or a new template can be created to include additional parameters like child policies. I am not entirely sure if collapsable content is possible on KB or not and I can try to find an answer for that.
- We have OOTB KB article template for a policy in XML form so you can refer to it. But for other examples you might have to refer to our documentation or search on community.
- As per above link, what they mean by incoming is the KB article template (XML, HTML, Script etc.), and outgoing is the generated KB article from policy based on the template.
- Yes, you can create new KB article templates for policies by going to Administration section --> Article Templates under Policy and Compliance module. And yes, published policy KB articles are displayed on Employee Center
I hope I answered your questions. If you have additional questions, please reply here.
Thanks,

Hi @Kirthika D ,
We have dedicated Knowledge Base for GRC which is called as Governance, Risk, and Compliance, where you can find the Published policies being displayed.
You can find the Knowledge Article number in this field in the policy itself:
A Policy can have Parent Child relationship , ut that cannot be done via Template:
By Default, you won't see the policies on employee center , you as an admin need to execute the scheduled job, Pull the knowledge base articles related to policies, on demand to pull all the KB articles of the published policies and list them in the Policies topic. The KBs of the published policies are listed in the policies page only when the scheduled job is run. Users with the business user or business user lite roles do have read access to the published KBs.
Access Quick links to the respective forms to create and accomplish your respective tasks. For example, to create an issue, select Report Issue link, enter the issue details, and submit it. Similar links are listed for quick access to report events and raise exceptions on policies with respect to Risk and Policy and Compliance, respectively.

We had the same issues. The solution was to add additional fields in policy management to manage a parent-child policy relationship of GRC KB articles.
