I was recently asked this question by a member of Leadership and I have done searches but cannot find an answer:
"can we assign a “criticality” to an asset within HAM? And have that also flow into the CMDB for use by other features"
Thanks

In the 'CMDB intelligent search' feature available on the CMDB workspace, you can run a search like 'Most critical business services which depends on servers' (for example as shown in screenshot) or any other relevant keywords based on your requirement to display the list of CIs which are related with the most critical business services (or business applications).

I found an option to assign criticality to assets in OT Asset information. I am assuming this can be tied to read relationships from business applications and services.

Federal regulations require us to assign a criticality or rating to each asset. I agree these ratings can be determined by relationships between services and apps but if I look at an asset record I should be able to tell how critical it is. For example a server running multiple critical business services would be far more critical as the business is concerned than a individual laptop computer. I need a way of notating that.
My original question still stands is there an option for this in either the CMDB or HAM?

'Business criticality' attribute is present on Business Applications class and Services (cmdb_ci_service) & all it's child classes (Business services, Application services, Technical services etc.). You can define the required 'Business criticality' values for records present on these tables and then ensure that CI relationships are configured for various CIs like Servers, Network devices etc. with the appropriate services class or business applications class.

Hello Ashok,
Once relationships are made between business application or service to a CI is there a way of showing criticality on the CI? Is there is a field that can be populated? How would I know the criticality of a CI other than looking at its related items criticality? Thank you
