Hi all,
I would like to know what is exactly a facility asset and how do you use it? By the name it seem that it can be a building or office space that can be considered an asset, but since it is a child of the Asset table and it inherits all its field while no having new fields on its own, I am confused on how do we used it, and what are its benefits?

The purpose of Facility assets table (alm_facility) is to manage data & lifecycle of physical non-IT assets like appliances, furniture, security systems, fire alarms etc. The type of facility assets which are important for organizations would vary depending on their industry and business objectives. For example, security systems will have more importance in financial services industry and fire alarms will have more importance in manufacturing industry. The important attributes to be tracked for the facility assets are name, location, owner, manufacturer, model, cost, depreciation, warranty, contract, current state etc. Fields for tracking all these are available in alm_facility table. Before populating any data in this table, Model categories (E.g. Furniture) and Models (E.g. With proper manufacturer and model name filled) need to be created as per requirements. If all the required information are populated and maintained in the Facility asset table using well defined processes, their lifecycle can be managed to some extent using ITSM asset product and even more using HAM pro.
But Enterprise asset management (EAM) product which is meant for OOB lifecycle management of physical assets might help in realizing maximum value of facility asset management.
