Asset Field on List view not populating

I am working on the asset_task table. on the list view, the asset column shows empty for all task types EXCEPT Consume Asset Tasks. But when I click on one of the records in this table, the asset field shows up on the form for any task type.

How do i get the asset column on the list view in asset_task to display the asset value when you click on the task  record?

To cover the basics first, make sure they are both the same column.  In the list view, click the gear icon to personalize the columns and make sure this column just says 'Asset' not something like 'Business Application.Asset'.  On the asset task form, right-click the Asset field label and choose Configure Dictionary.  Make sure the Dictionary Entry record shows the column name asset and the Table = Asset Task [asset_task].

The asset column on the list view references asset_task. when i click in the record, depending on the task type, the asset field references the asset field from that table (reclamation refresh, etc.). I need the asset field on asset_task to display the value those records have for asset
