Asset in HW Database doesnt have CI aligned

Hi

 

We have an asset in our HW Database that currently does not have a CI assigned, therefore our service desk cannot select the device, when a user raises a ticket.

 

When trying to allocate the CI to the Asset, Service Now is responding with the following message 

 

Changing the CI Class after creation is Not allowed.

 

But its never had a CI for some reason assigned

 

Is this correct OOB functionality

The issue is because the model category Tacho has no CI class associated with it. The CI class and Asset class of a model category can only be set during the creation of the model category. So it is better to raise a hi-ticket and get suggestions from ServiceNow about how to proceed.

Check the model category of that 'Asset' record. Then go to 'Model categories' table, open that model category and see the 'Asset class' and 'CI class' fields. Probably the value in 'Class' field of that CI record does not match the 'CI class' of the asset's model category. 

The Model Category is Tacho

Under the Asset the CI is blank 

There has never been one aligned for some reason and therefore blank 

You have said that you were trying to assign some CI. What is the CI class and Model ID of that CI?

Asset Class is Hardware [alm_hardware]

The Model ID is Inelo Stocerz SP. J. Tacho Device 

The model is Tacho

 

We are want to align it to CI -
