Hi all!
Hi all
We have recently started ServiceNow Contract Management for managing and tracking contracts within IT.
However, we aren't sure how best to deal with resellers.
For example our hardware estate is Lenovo but we don't purchase hardware directly from Lenovo, instead we use a reseller. This reseller, might also supply software or services.
Just wondering how others have got round this as it doesn't seem clear when creating a new contract. Do we need a new Contract Model?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Tracey

Hi,
there are a number of contract models, maybe consider, ”purchase order”, this is the one, that it supporting the procurement process, in other words the reseller you are buying from.
from a product perspective you need to think the model from the manufacturer and then add the “vendor” items to that model, here you specify the resellers product id.

Thanks so much for getting back to me @Stig Brandt
So when adding a new Contract record, would I put the reseller as the "Vendor"? Where would I add Lenovo?
Any advise is greatly appreciated 🙂
Thanks

@On the contract with the reseller, you don’t put Lenovo, as Lenovo is the manufacturer of the product you buy, the manufacturer = Lenovo, is on the hardware model.
on the vendor item(child to hardware model), you have the reseller item for the Lenovo product.
from the contract, as far as I remember you cannot specify which models/vendor items, that can be bought, maybe consider to add a relation to contracts from vendor items.
hope this help
