Hardware Asset Management status to Retired

Hello

I would like to know how the entire HAM Flow process runs.

Under what circumstances will Status become Retired?

Will it automatically change? Do you still need to manually change it?

Thanks!

Automate the update of your asset records throughout its life cycle and remove the effort of manually maintaining asset accuracy. Assets need to be updated and tracked from the time they are purchased until they are disposed. The automation process starts from the time you request an asset through

Hello @ddd ,

Please understand this depends upon your organization when they need to retired the asset , but in general assets are retired when they reach the end of their useful life and removed from inventory.

Once you understand the retired state , OOTB there are some sub states under retired state , please follow below :

I will explain you one of the implementation I did , the circumstances were to check whether it is in warranty or out of warranty , if it is in warranty it will repair and it will be available for users and if it is out of warranty then it will be retired and substate will be disposed. And the state changes I did it with the business rules , ServiceNow had done all the state and substate changes with business rules to keep the process monotonous I too used business rules but can be done with the flows too.

Hope you have got your answer !!

Thanks

Asset Retirement is not just a change to the state.  It depends on Asset Disposal procedure which includes

  • Removal of softwares and its licenses
  • Removal of Asset components
  • Removal of company data

You can refer to Asset Policy when you can retire an asset.

Thanks,

Narsing
