We recently received feedback from our Finance team who advised that they need to have an oversight on the following:
We need to know whether the new purchases are related to the 2023 PC replacement project or assigned to a new hire, in both cases we need the following:
- New serial number marked as Replacement/new hire
- Old serial number being replaced should be marked as well if replaced (so we can dispose it
How do we go about making sure that these criteria can be recorded in the asset table?

Are you using HAM pro? Then you can differentiate these using the following processes:
1. Hardware asset refresh flow for the purpose of PC replacement. It is explained in following URL:

If you have an onboarding catalog item which includes a task for deploying assets, then the asset purchase for new hires might be triggered as part of that if there are no assets available in stock. If the asset deployment for new hires is not part of onboarding process currently, it might be done as part of standard asset requests flow explained in following URL:
Regardless of whether you are using HAM pro or ITSM Asset management, one possible solution which I can think of is to have the 'tags' attribute of Hardware assets populated for new purchases (based on appropriate criteria as per your purchase process) to indicate whether it is for a new hire or for the purpose of replacement.
