Question about asset reclamation and missing assets

I'm going through the asset reclamation flow to try and get a better understanding of it. My question is what happens during the flow when it's discovered that an asset is missing? As an example, the reclamation method is "ship" and it gets lost in the mail. Does the individual working the reclamation line manually open the asset record and change the status to missing or is there a way for the workflow to automatically update the asset record?

If you have the shipment integration, you could potential hit off of the shipment status and take flow actions accordingly to update the asset.

You can always try to do a customized work around on asset reclaim. I have experienced the same exact thing, hoping the product team will take note of this and update the out of the box functionality. It is a very real use case to never receive an asset back during the reclaim process, things get lost or never returned in the mail.
