Chemical Regulatory Lists:
Persona: Chemical Manager or Environmental Manager
Docs: link to docs page
In a regulatory climate where regulations shift constantly and overlap across jurisdictions, pinning down which hundreds of lists apply to a substance and keeping that list currents has meant hours of manual tracking that is error prone and slow to surface emerging risk. ServiceNow’s Chemical Regulatory framework replaces that effort with a single source of truth that stays automatically up to date.
Safety and compliance teams get complete visibility into which chemicals are in use, which regulations apply, and what action is needed — with no lists to maintain by hand. Automatic updates lower the risk of costly violations and preventable incidents, and the regulatory overview surfaces upcoming in-force dates and newly applicable regulations early enough to act on them/
Regulations link to chemicals through the CAS numbers of their ingredient substances, so every chemical and substance record carries its own regulatory view with no manual setup. An out-of-the-box integration with the 3E Regulatory Intelligence API syncs regulatory data on demand or on a schedule, so the data stays current without waiting for the next planned refresh.
How to Use:
Note: regulatory lists can be accessed from the substance record, the chemical record, or in the regulatory list view. Regulatory lists on the chemical level will be the culmination of all the regulatory lists for the substances that make up that chemical. From the list view, chemical managers can browse regulatory lists, filter by location, and open records to see the covered substances.
- In the Health and Safety Workspace, navigate to the Environmental Management application
- Select a substance record. The regulation is pulled from the CAS number.
- From the substance record, select the regulatory tab
Note: this will appear blank if the 3E integration has not been set up
- Regulatory List Timeline: The timeline shows when new regulatory obligations are coming into the pipeline
- Compliance: References Health and Safety Audits to show compliant, partially compliant, and noncompliance for insight on where the substance stands. Regulatory lists can be used as criteria during an audit to easily pull in up to date regulations to audit against.
- Incoming: A count of regulations coming into effect but not in yet force
- Overdue: A count of items past their due date that need action
- Regulations by Regulatory List: Filterable list of all regulations for the substance
- Open a regulatory list record
- Select the regulations related list to view the regulation
Setting up Chemical Regulatory Lists:
Note: ServiceNow provides an of the box integration with 3E Regulatory Intelligence. Additional licensing with 3E is required to use to automate the regulatory lists
Environmental Management (sn_hs_env) 2.2.0 will need to be downloaded or updated from the store into your instance.
Release Compatibility: Australia, Zurich
Health and Safety Action Planner:
Persona: EHS Managers or Site Managers
Docs: link to docs page
Safety managers used to lose time switching tabs — jumping between the record, an actions tab, or Now Assist to create and review corrective and preventive actions. Every context switch broke focus and slowed response work. The Contextual Action Planner brings the entire action workflow into a sidebar on the record itself, cutting out the friction.
From any Health and Safety record, safety managers now view, create, edit, and delete actions without leaving the screen. AI suggests relevant actions based on historical analysis or comparing the record to knowledge policies and procedures.
How to Use:
Health and Safety Action Planner is available on any record in the Health and Safety Workspace where Health and Safety Actions exist:
Health and Safety Incidents, Health and Safety Observations, Meetings, JSAs, Risk Assessments, Permit to Work, Inspections, Audits, Findings, Exposures, Contractors, Health and Safety Cases, Chemicals, Health and Safety profile
- Open any Health and Safety Record
From the contextual sidebar select suggest new actions
- The AI skill will analyze historical records and compare knowledge articles to suggest 1-5 corrective or preventive actions
- Select create action to create an action
- If the action is not relevant or helpful select x to dismiss
- Actions can be created without navigating to the Actions tab. Select Add new action to create an action
- Select the pencil icon to edit the action directly from the contextual sidebar without having to open the full record and navigate away from the current page
Setting Up Health and Safety Action Planner:
AI Agents for Health and Safety [sn_hs_ai_agents] and Now Assists for Health and Safety [sn_hs_gen_ai] will need to be downloaded or updated from the store into your instance.
Release Compatibility: Australia, Zurich
L1 Autonomous Health and Safety Specialist (restricted)
Persona: Employee
Each day, EHS teams field dozens of routine questions via calls, messages, and emails. The AI L1 Health and Service Desk Specialist automates and deflects routine workplace inquiries, so EHS teams spend less time triaging and responding to common questions and more time focusing on high value work.
From the moment a case is created, the autonomous agent resolves, responds, and closes, without manual intervention. When the agent cannot resolve the case, it alerts the team to resolve. Once the EHS team resolves, the answer becomes part of the agent's knowledge to continuously improve case deflection.
Additional Features:
Incident time zone:
A field to Health and Safety Incident has been added to display the local time to account for the time of the incident without time zone conversion throwing the record off. Safety teams will now be able to see the occurred-on time of both their time zone and the time zone of the user who reported the incident.
Create a new contractor:
A Create new contractor action has been added to both the Health and Safety workspace and the classic UI to reduce the amount of clicks and effort to add new contractor companies.
