My employer has recently implemented ServiceNow and it's OOB. I will be an admin for our installation but have not been certified yet. I know and can update simple items but there are things which I can not do or find. When searching docs or in a browser, I don't find what I am looking for. Is there a good place to find quick information on ITSM, Contracts and Procurement etc that would be helpful. A glossary of terms is always helpful. How to get to specific tables would be great. More information on approvals for modules would also be very beneficial. Is there a process to updating forms or adding tabs to forms? Some of what I may be looking for are customizations but it would be great to have a reference of best practices. If you can send helpful "how to" links or information that has helped you out with your installation I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Jude,
One short answer is: YouTube Channels by Experts & ServiceNow NowLearning site
I suggest do not gather a wholesome of information, like Piano learning ServiceNow basics is easy, its just mastering it is difficult as there is ocean-full of information out there, unavoidably it changes every year. But the fundamentals always remain the same.
As an admin, you might exactly need the content available in Now Learning - ServiceNow Fundamentals Link: https://nowlearning.servicenow.com/lxp?id=amap_detail&achievement_id=d4e62ded1ba38190998555fa234bcb5...
Secondly, focus on a step by step approach towards becoming Administrator. I could quickly suggest following:
1. System UI > explore this menu and its modules
2. Incident Management > start with Incident handlings and extend administrative knowledge to other ITSM Apps
3. Tables > Esply Task and CMDB and followed by their childs and their heirarchies
4. Fields > Dictionary handlings (field type, default values etc)
5. Form layout, Form Sections, Form Related Lists and Related Links > Do not go into configuring these but just have an idea
6. UI Policies > unlike Client Scripts the UI Policies are Configurations, in ServiceNow Configs are highly recommended than Customizations (scripting), hence do not focus on coding in the initial days
Finally, the administrative tasks in real time:
i. Admin Dashboard understanding - the reports commonly describe about what activities to focus on, hence a holistic view of everything in SN are available under this
ii. *Look for ITSM records and understand the path taken in resolving these tickets. May be plan around 50 incidents, 50 requests, 20 changes and 10 problems in the recent times in a span of a month.
iii. *If your instance is equipped with Agile Management, then track those Stories at around 50 to look for the various requirements that arise and which are to be solved.
iv. There are some more points, but I reserve for later ----
Advanced System Administration course and ServiceNow Scripting can be next two big steps you can take once you have confidence on the above.
* optional, incase the instance really a new born baby.
Happy learning!
