CAPI(Cloud API) to Pattern migration for Cloud discovery

Hello Experts,

Currently we are using combination of CAPI and patterns for our AWS,Azure cloud discovery.

After reading through support article:https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0827153

I understood the migration process, prerequisites needed for it. but I want to know the pros & cons of this migration , differences and what additional information discovery can gather after migrating to patterns for cloud discovery.

I would be grateful for your help since I could find any documentation which explains this.

Thanks,

Rahim

Hi Rahim,

Servicenow's approach is to use patterns. So all upcoming support and new features will be added to patterns. So, its beneficial to move patterns.

Hi Rahim,

Patterns will be used for discovery and service mapping on cloud resources. So if you have to map applications running in cloud, patterns will be used. Hope this will help.

Hello CMDB Nerd, It means migration of CAPI TO patterns should be done only incase we want map applications running in cloud? Can you elaborate and also help me understand the actual pros & cons of this migration.. Thanks, AbdulRahim

Hi CMDB Nerd,

Thanks for this answer. Anyway, do you know if there is anything more that needs to be done apart of the guide that is in the https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0827153  ?

I proceeded with the guide but now I am wondering and looking around if this is all that is needed. Do not I have to change anything in the already existing discovery schedules?

Thank you in advance.

BR,

Michal
