Case study: unifying and optimizing technology investments
The complexity of the IT estate in large organizations often poses an obstacle to business transformation. When the technology landscape includes a multitude of tools and processes, enterprise-wide change requires a bold approach.
For one global manufacturer with 100+ facilities in more than 30 countries, even a small interruption in business operations could have a significant impact—on both the business and its customers. Ensuring the health of its diverse ecosystem of devices is critical to the productivity of the company’s employees and the reliability of its tools.
For this manufacturer, though, a multitude of point solutions was creating a fragmented ecosystem that made it difficult to address inefficiencies and rising costs. To break away from these legacy technologies and optimize their investments, the company engaged Kyndryl to co-design an end-to-end transformation of the company's device management program.
To achieve the organization’s reliability and performance objectives, Kyndryl created a proactive system monitoring framework that united the company’s disparate systems with end-to-end workflows integrated into ServiceNow. Kyndryl then developed a new portal for ordering and replacing devices. A multidisciplinary team worked with partners in IT, Purchasing, and Finance to integrate into existing systems and align with procurement and other financial processes. The portal connects to a new asset tracking system that automatically maintains data as part of lifecycle management. Integrated into the tracking system are data from a Digital Experience Management platform (DEM), which is also new.
With this framework, the company is able to proactively monitor its devices, resolving incidents for groups of users in a regular cadence. Today, the company relies on the Now Platform™ to power the flow of work across thousands of devices—operating in multiple languages with different country-specific accounting practices.
