Editing 'change request values' after a standard change proposal has been requested

Question regarding editing of 'change request values' after a standard change proposal has been requested....

The current process:
  • User fills out a standard change proposal, then clicks on the 'Request Approval' button.
  • The standard change proposal is displayed with a (green) message displaying "This proposal is locked for editing while approval is in process." None of the 'Change Request values' are editable to the user and the state is set to 'Work in Progress'.
  • All approvers are in a 'Requested' state and can 'Approve', 'Reject' etc.   The 'Change Request values' are editable to some approvers
  • Depending on approver action, the standard change proposal state is changed (typically 'Closed Complete')
Here's what I'm trying to figure out:

Let's say one of the 'Change Request values' was filled out incorrectly and an approver would like to send the proposal back to the user for editing and have them 'Request Approval' again.

Is there an OOTB feature that I can leverage to achieve this, or would the workflow need to be altered (copied and modified)?

FYI....we implemented the standard change proposal while running Geneva and have since upgraded to Istanbul.  I'm putting that out there in case new features have been added that I may not know about.

Update:

After playing with the standard change proposal, I found that by placing the 'State' field value to 'Open' (and saved), proposal fields will once again become editable to the original user. After the proper modifications have been made, the user can click on the 'Request Approval' button once again. We added users with the 'change_manager' role to the 'std_change_proposal.state' ACL, enabling them to modify the proposal 'State' field.

This comes with one caveat, ...if an approver approves/rejects the proposal, the proposal state follows suit. The change manger can set the state back to 'Open', but sys approvers will display rejected, approved, etc., ....at which point the change manager will need modify/update each.

We are looking into modifying the workflow, but for now, this does the trick. Aside from the change to the ACL, no other changes were made.
