Editting a global Homepage

I have created a Homepage which I wish to share with my team but want to restrict edit capabilities to myself. I followed the steps in 'Creating New Homepages', and by leaving the 'user' field empty, the Homepage becomes global.. so far so good!

The next step is I set the 'read' role to the role of my team, so they now see my Homepage in their 'switch to page' drop down... again, so far so good.

The next thing I do is set the 'write' role to a role only I have (a role I created just for me called 'Knowledge_manager'). So my expectation is that if someone from my team tries to modify the Homepage, it will automatically create a new Homepage for them with the word 'My' in front of it... again, so far so good EXCEPT... when I try to modify the Homepage, it behaves the same as for the other members of the team...

So how do I now modify the original 'global' version of the Homepage?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback! I see that the 'view' field is in fact blank for this Homepage. Can't seem to find any information on what I would need to put in the 'view' field to resolve this issue... can you assist. I'm afraid I'm quite new at Service-Now and appreciate the help!

You can put any text in there as long as the field is not blank.

Perfect, so after adding something in that field, I was able to right click on my homepage (from the list) and select 'Edit Homepage' I was able to edit!

Thanks so much!

Now this begs the question, what does the 'write' capabilities do in the homepage configuration? As I mentioned in my initial question, I entered a role that was unique to me, thinking this would limit only myself to edit. Turns out when I impersonated someone else, that person was also able to modify the homepage.

Any ideas. You have solved the major part of my questions... and this is for bonus points! 😉

Again, much appreciated. I am able to do more with every bit I learn!

'Write' permissions for homepages mean that the user can edit the master version of that homepage. Every user with a role who can read from a homepage has the ability to create a copy of that homepage. That's what your users are doing.

When users login and start adding content to a page, I notices that the SN instance saves that "custom page" as a "My X" page where x=current_page_name.

For example,
Tim logs in and is looking at the ITIL page, he doesn't like how things are laid out, so he moves some boxes around and adds a small content block for the current request queue.
He was looking at ITIL Homepage, now, up under the 'switch page' there is a My ITIL Homepage, configured the way Tim likes it.

My question is, are these 'dynamic homepages' only existing in each instance/session of SN? or is there a way to make this page 'stick' for each user?
