Hide No longer required in approvers in change request

I need to hide no longer required records in approvers in change request, I have set a default filter for that, But if I manually remove the default filter criteria for No Longer Required from the list this looks to apply permanently and the filter never reapplies if the form is reloaded/another user looks at the record. Can anyone please help me on this.

I've had a good dig and play with this but it seems for the sysapproval_approver table there's a long standing known issue. See here:

Hopefully, others can help here and provide an alternative. Sorry I couldn't provide more positive news.

I checked to see if we could add filters or avoid changes via Preferences etc but sadly I haven't found anything. I just thought I'd let you know you're not the only one here.
