Interactive filter not updating in dashboard

i am trying to add an interactive filter to a dashboard . i create a report on incident table with no filter, just basic. i create an interactive filter with choice type for the field category. i create it but when i add it to the dashboard , for any choice i select, the result showed in report just doesn't change. Can anyone recommend what i am doing wrong here. Thank you in advance.

You need to be doing two things:
(1) Make the report on the dashboard follow interactive filters. Use the cog wheel to get to the following dialog and make sure the 'follow interactive filters' is checked.
(2) Add the interactive filter to the dashboard by selecting the plus sign (top right of the dashboard) and add the interactive filter (interactive filter > choice list > Incident Category - Multiple).
I used the 'IT Agent' dashbaord to check that it works. It does on the 'MY group's work' tab. The My work tab is not configured to follow interactive filters.
Note that the 'Incident Category' breakdown that can be added in the dashboard properties is not the same as an interactive filter.
