Software Asset Management Core (com.snc.sam.core) plugin activation in Istanbul

Earlier on I was going to activate the Software Asset Management Core (ID: com.snc.sam.core) plugin on a subprod Istanbul instance as a first step to testing an integration.

Except, although it is listed in https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/istanbul-servicenow-platform/page/administer/plugins/reference/is...   it is not available:

Tried in my own local dev with the same results - not listed to activate.

Anyone know if this plugin has been rolled into something else or is it one that has to be activated by ServiceNow themselves?

Thanks

For anyone else who has this problem with plugins, the reply received from ServiceNow support is that there is currently a bug with Istanbul patch 6 where a subscription is also required for subproduction instances (which should not be the case).

The current workaround is to raise a request via the Hi Service Catalog to ask ServiceNow to activate for you.

All my subprod instances were on Istanbul patch 6, other than prod.

Prod is on Istanbul patch 5 but of course if its a plugin requiring a subscription I wont see it anyway.

I had upgraded my own local dev to Jakarta just as a little test but seems 'Software Asset Management' plugins have changed in the new release, this particular one not listed in the Jakarta plugin changes.

Hope that might help someone in the same boat

Regards

James

Hi James,

As near as I can tell, support needs to activate that plugin. That usually indicates it's a pay-for plugin (like Discovery or PA premium.)

It does not show up on my (Jakarta) instance as admin. If I go in with maint mode (like support) I can then see a bunch of plugins where ID contains "sam".

Hello James.

I have it under plugins.

Have you elevated privileges?

Bravo Corina! I elevated privileges to security_admin and the plugins were visible. Personally, I don't think security_admin should be tied to visibility of plugins. It doesn't sound like a security thing to me.

Hi,

I had not elevated privileges earlier as, like Chuck, I did not think plugins was related to security.

Just tried it few moments ago again, but sadly still no Software Asset Management Core plugin, only the 4 from my screenshot.

Tried in 2 of the clients instances, plus local dev instance.

Sure I have seen this in other instances in the past.

Opened up a Hi ticket to ask support anyway.
