UI policy not working with option of "none" on select box

I created a UI policy to hide a variable on the catalog item and RITM, but not the TASK generated.   However, its not working when I add the option to include the dropdown of "None" on the varaible.   What is the problem here?

Your variable is marked Mandatory.   Mandatory overwrites the visible definition on UI policy.

Remove the mandatory check from variable and update UI policy to make field mandatory if visible.
