'Standard' vs 'Common Control' functionality utilization in 'Control' records

Hi all,

I understand that 'Standard' vs 'Common Control' feature is now available in Compliance module where in "Compliance Workspace" you can select a control and then click on "Convert to common" (or "Convert to standard") UI Action and "Function" field of such control changes acordingly. (For some reason I only see this functionality in workspace view and not in UI-16)

Can someone help with a real-life step by step scenario on how converting to a common control will help on the long run on utilizing common control features.  I appreciate detailed steps and practical explanation 🙂
Thank you

V.
