Homepage Deprecation What You Need To Know!

ServiceNow is no longer supporting the functionality of Homepages. Customers will no longer be able to create new Homepage and all existing Homepages will need to be retired or converted to a responsive canvas dashboard.

ServiceNow wants to bring all the dashboarding capabilities into one tool, which has more extensive and collaborative features than Homepages.

I have been analyzing the data on the homepage deprecation tool in our Sandbox environment - one thing that I observed is that if you "retire" the homepages on the Personal Homepages tab (owned by inactive or locked out users) it still sends an approval notification to those users, for which you have to wait for designated time for them to respond before action is taken. Is there a way to skip the notification for inactive/locked out users?

I have noticed that there are lots of OOB homepages in the tasks created by Homepage Deprecation Tool. I have also raised the case regarding the OOB homepages. I have got the answer that we should decide if we need it and replace in the module. I am especially consider about the homepage 'Catalog' which is connected to module but also called from UI action 'Create Request' on Universal Request form.

The point is, we do not feel comfortable with such the answer. Should we do the whole code review to ensure that nothing OOB will be broken? Shouldn't ServiceNow responsible teams take care of the OOB homepages which are connected and called through the system?

This would have been a much better tool if the email avalanche could have been avoided and if specific direction was given for converting homepages linked to menus. The first article found on converting homepages contained erroneous info. 

Original instructions use the following syntax for link:
sysparm_dashboard=[sys_id]

What worked for us:

$dashboards.do?sysparm_dashboard=[sys_id]

@Lon Landry4- Thank you for the script correction! Where did you find an article on converting homepages linked to menus? The only things I can find tell me how to convert from the Homepage Migration Status list. I have no idea how to change links on menu items and can't seem to find anything at all.

Hi SBH, this is the article I found, but it took a bit of trial and error to figure out correct solution.

One big caveat related to homepages is that you can set a dashboard for their initial view of system, but system functionality always displays last dashboard viewed by user as homepage after that initial view.
