Interactive Filter: Show only Configuration Items based on User Input / leading digits cost center

Hi forum members,

I am currently setting up a dashboard to show stakeholders various tables, containing different types of configuration items in our cmdb. Each item belongs to a certain cost center.

I want to set up a custom filter, that filters the shown configuration items based on the digits the user provides.

For example if a dashboard user types "123", I want all my included reports to show only those items with a leading "123" in their cost center.

How can I achieve this?

Any hint is highly appreciated.

And does this then mean several cost centers? Or are they unique and do you only want them to type half of it?

I would make the filter multiple select to just show all cost centers, so they can select all the 123 ones. You will run the risk your custom filter breaks on upgrades (and for further assistance: are you working in the old config or in Platform Analytics already)?

Hi Mark! I already implemented the solution with the multiple select, works fine in some cases.

But if for example someone wants to select all cost centers with a leading "112" - the filter is showing a list with all cost centers, containing the sequence "112". Also, already selected cost centers are still selectable in the list. That's too complicated for a good UX in my opinion.

If I understood your question right: I am not working in Platform Analytics Workspace, but in the "old config" - just created a dashboard and adjusting it.
