Performance Analytics - How does a Word Cloud determine which Breakdown Elements (e.g. Assigned To)

Hi All,

I’m trying to understand how Performance Analytics builds the list of breakdown elements when a breakdown is selected in a Word Cloud widget.

Example:

  • Indicator is based on sc_task/Incident

  • Word Cloud is configured and works correctly with Breakdown = None

  • When I choose Breakdown = Assigned To, the “Element” picker shows a partial list of users — it stops partway through the alphabet (e.g. ends around “D”)

  • Users who definitely have in-scope records for the indicator do not appear in the list

  • At the same time, some users who have no in-scope records do appear

This is not a permissions issue; the same behaviour occurs for admin users.

What I'm trying to understand is:

  • What data source and rules do the Word Cloud use to populate the Breakdown > Elements list?
  • What governs which breakdown values are even made available in the UI once a breakdown is selected.
  • Why would a user with qualifying records be omitted while another user with no qualifying records appears?
  • Is there a hard cap or optimisation that limits how many elements are returned?
