Report: how to group by a variable

Hello!   We have a report and have columns with service catalog variables.   We have a need to group by variables and cannot find a way to do this (variables do not appear in the group by drop down list).   Can anyone show me how to group by variables?

To be more specific, we want to group by variables on a LIST report

Hi,

In order to view the variables values on the List view, you can pull out a report on the Requested Item table which can be exported also from the Report.

From the column section on the right side of the page select "Variables(+)"   and then click on the plus(+) sign as highlighted in the screen shot below.

Once clicked a window with the List of Catalog Items are displayed. Select the Catalog item for which you want to see the variables values. Once selected the list of variables are available for selection in the slush bucket.

Select the variables and add it to the right of the slush bucket and click on Run to view the Report on Variable Values. as shown below:

Right, but that is to add a variable as a column.   I want to Group by a variable on a list report.   Any ideas?

Shouldnt you just group by Item?
