Reports are not following breakdown sources and interactive filter after migration

After migration, the filter isn't working until I go into each element and uncheck and recheck 'follow filters' and 'show filter icon'.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

hai @Bridgette Weiri
Yes, this is a known issue some users have experienced after migrations/clones. The report or widget settings appear enabled, but the interactive filter binding doesn’t actually initialize until the record is resaved — which is why unchecking/rechecking “Follow interactive filter” and “Show filter icon” fixes it.
A few things that usually help:
Run cache.do and clear browser cache
Open and resave the affected reports/widgets
Verify the breakdown source and interactive filter references exist and are active in the target instance
Make sure the dashboard, reports, and interactive filters were migrated together (missing dependencies can cause this behavior)
If many reports are impacted, it’s worth opening a HI case with ServiceNow since this has been seen as a post-migration metadata synchronization issue in some releases.

Hi @Bridgette Weiri ,
Yes, I have seen similar behavior after migrating dashboards to Platform Analytics.
In Platform Analytics, the key setting is Follow filters under the visualization’s Data update section. Show filter icon only controls whether the filter icon/count is displayed on the visualization; it should not be required for the filter logic itself.
If the filter starts working only after you open the visualization, toggle Follow filters / Show filter icon, and save it again, that usually indicates the migrated visualization metadata was not fully refreshed or saved correctly during migration.
I would check the following:
1. Open the migrated dashboard in edit mode.
2. Open each affected visualization.
3. Confirm Follow filters is enabled.
4. Save the visualization.
5. Refresh the browser page and retest.
6. Confirm the dashboard filter targets the same data source/table as the visualization.
Also note that Core UI interactive filters and Platform Analytics filters are not exactly the same model. If these were migrated Core UI interactive filters, review the migrated filter records under Platform Analytics Administration and confirm they are mapped to the correct data sources.
If this is happening across many dashboards, I would not manually fix every element without first opening a ServiceNow Support case. It sounds like a migration artifact or patch-level issue, especially if simply resaving the same settings fixes it.
Follow filters controls the behavior. Show filter icon only controls display. If toggling/resaving fixes it after migration, it is likely a migrated configuration issue rather than expected behavior.
