Instance name character limit

Hi everyone

This is not critical, it is a simple question
I understand that it is possible to determine the instance name when creating an instance and that it must follow the rules linked below.

However, I have searched the internet, albeit briefly, and have not found any reference to a character limit for

instance names.

So I would like to get an answer to one of the following

1.There is no upper limit to the number of characters (infinite)
2.There is no reference (official or otherwise) to an upper limit on the number of characters in an instance name.
3.There is a fixed upper limit to the number of characters.

If the upper limit of the number of characters is fixed, I would like to know the knowledge, cases, and communities that can be referred to.

Hi,

I would suggest to raise a Support case with ServiceNow if you have a requirement to set long name.

They can help you with the required information related with instance configuration.

Not an urgent need myself, just a curious question, but you are certainly right, it seems appropriate to raise the support case.

I contacted ServiceNow support and asked about the maximum number of characters in an instance name.
I received a response and will share it with you.

The answer was "technically it should be less than 32 characters".
