Hello,

One of our customer wants to use 'Snow software' to discover their Infra and Software details. They told that using Snow software tool, they can maintain both Hardware and Software information.

But we want to pitch in 'Discovery and SAM PRO' solution.

Has anyone analyzed this  'Snow software' vs 'ServiceNow Discovery + SAM PRO'?

Please share your inputs. Thank you!

PS - the objective is maintain completely the Hardware and Software Assets (end to end lifecycle).

I've migrated customers off of SNOW software and onto ServiceNow for Software Asset Management.  SNOW and Flexera are best in breed point solutions.  Where ServiceNow wins out everytime is the power of the platform and the flexibility of the platform.  An example of this is creating a periodic attestation for employees to confirm they have the hardware and software you think they have.  Fairly easy to build something in ServiceNow as the end users already have a portal they are used to visiting.  Another example is automating the request process to automatically check to see if there is available licenses and if yes go ahead and create a user based allocation for that software. Another win isn't maintain yet another enterprise 'cmdb' that has to be reconciled to the ITSM CMDB.

Flexera and SNOW have "closed loop" discovery processes using client based discovery.  Client based discovery tend to be a set it and forget based discovery that typically just works (for software asset management).  But ServiceNow brings tremendous flexibility if extra metadata is desired to be captured, plus ServiceNow is growing their client based discovery tool (Agent Client Collector)

This Garner Magic Quadrant is from 2020, I would think by now ServiceNow would have moved up and over to the right even more.

While analysing the discovery of Snow and Service Now, in most cases, Versions and Editions of the products were missing in the case of SAM pro.

We did a bidirectional out-of-the-box integration with CMDB to refine the discovery.
