How to manage user based license in sampro

Hello team,

I have created one entitlement with PPN for visio online, now as per PPN the license metric is user based license. When i run reconciliation my visio online unlicensed installations gas no effect of this entitlement but when i changed it to device based it changed the unlicensed count. So how should we manage user based licenses in SAMpro

Hi @PriyankaAng,

as Visio Online is part of M365, I would recommend to setup the M365 direct integration first. The integration will create all required software models based on the portal data. The second step is the entitlement creation based on the PPN. With the help of the SAM Pro content DB data, the entitlement will be linked to one of the existing software models. Running another recon will calculate you license position based on the subscription and entitlement data.

Thanks....this is for Microsoft softwares what about other publishers where might not have option to integrate any portal?

Hi @PriyankaAng,

in this case, ensuring correct consumption is then part of your SAM processes. In ServiceNow SAMP you have the multiple options for maintaining user consumption, e.g., User allocation, User CAL

For both options, the usage data must be provided to you by the product owner or similar with access to the product or knowledge about the current consumption. It is sufficient if you know the following details: eMail/User ID, product and usage (quantity). These details are added e.g., as allocation per entitlement and will be recognized by the next recon.
