Hi all,
I was wondering are there any best practices when managing freeware in SAM?
I looked at SAM features but it seems that ServiceNow doesn't provide a function for selecting freeware. If anyone out there has managed free software, I would like to hear your experience on how it was managed.

Hi @jnt-cnt
Uncheck the "License under management" checkbox on the software model and this will preclude the software model from reconciliation calculations.
Eg:
If you look at the Software Products table, and search for TeamViewer, you will see there are a number of products classified across Licensable, Not Licensable, and Child. From my perspective, the content service does distinguish the various TeamViewer products accordingly.
If there is a product that your discovery source has found that is not normalized, and you have the Content Service enabled, it should normalize it in due course

Yes unfortunatelly only one ! You can customize the new solution as needed for your buisness if your using many freeware.
SAM is more about managing non freeware... I hope this helps kindly mark the answer correct if it lead to a acceptable answer @jnt-cnt ... 🙂

@jnt-cnt One option would be what you can do if you would like to track the usage of the freeware build a Custom Software Product and classify it as Licensable and map then your created software model afterwards to your Installations.
