Planning for SAM license - How to get Saas info

I plan to license SAM; hence, I must provide the "SaaS Subscription User -Count."

Where do I check the details? What info does it capture under this Saas subscription?

HI @Prabhu6,

per ServiceNow definition - ServiceNow Subscription Unit Overview - SAM

1) SaaS Subscription User” is any unique User Principal Name in the SaaS Subscription User table listed below managed by the Software Asset Management application
2) Table [samp_sw_subscription]
3) Ratio: 1:15

I hope this example will help you. I highlighted two user principal names (Adam, Adela). Both are assigned to multiple SaaS subscriptions (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, Salesforce, ...), but it will count only 2 use rights.

You need to identify all your SaaS applications, get a unique user count and license based on the current ratio. I can image that the current M365 subscriptions is a good fit.

Thanks a lot Dennis

I have a clarification question after getting conflicting info from SN and the license vendor advisor. I'm trying to come up with budget for next year for SaaS licenses. We are currently not running any third party portals SaaS integrations and don't have this table populated. Does the 15:1 mean that one user can have 15 different publisher integrations (regardless of the number of products per publisher)? Or does it mean 15 users per 1 license? Thanks.

Hi @catcur,

it’s the last statement, 15 unique User Principal Name in the SaaS Subscription User table will consume 1 ServiceNow SAM Pro License.

I hope this matches with the answer from ServiceNow 😉
