Is there an Out-of-the-box workflow for SAM which works for non-standard software, i.e. software that has not yet been procured. It would track the procurement process in addition to licensing and usage.

There is only one workflow OOTB for software procurement: Procurement Process Flow - Software. It is very generic so it would need to be customized.

The out-of-box workflows regardless of standard or non-standard software generate a sourcing task. The sourcing tasks allows the ability to source via procurement (using the servicenow purchase order app). It does require the use of using the software catalog. This means a software model has been created and a vendor product entry. Both of which aren't typically done because it's non-standard software that typically being asked for in ad-hoc manner.

How does a customer request non-standard (not yet approved) software to trigger the OOB workflow?
Or did you create an 'OTHER' software catalog item and then call the Procurement Process Flow - Software?
