SAM Pro - Implementation

Hi All,

Currently ServiceNow is integrated with Flexera One and publisher details, computer, software details, hardware models, software models etc. are coming from Flexera.  These data in Flexera are coming from SCCM and other sources.

Now we are planning to implement SAM Pro in ServiceNow where SCCM will be direct source along with ServiceNow discovery. Flexera will be sunset in future.

1) What is the best approach to handle the data as publisher details, computer, software details, hardware models, software models will come from SCCM and discovery as well.  (Purging the data or keep as it is and bring SCCM data with handling reconciliation and normalization)

2) How to handle concurrent license in ServiceNow for non-engineering like tosca

Thank You

Hello @saketnandan ,

1) When transitioning from Flexera One to SAM Pro, it's generally best to keep existing data and bring in new data from SCCM and ServiceNow discovery. You can perform reconciliation and normalization on the combined data set to ensure accuracy and consistency across all sources.

Before making any changes, it's important to establish a clear migration plan that outlines the steps involved, timelines, resources needed, and potential risks or issues. You should also communicate the plan to all relevant stakeholders and obtain their buy-in and support.

2) Concurrent licensing in ServiceNow can be handled by creating a license metric for the non-engineering software (e.g., Tosca). You would define the license metric based on how many users are allowed to use the software at any given time. Then you would create an entitlement record for each license purchased, specifying the total number of licenses available.

As users access Tosca, the system would track their usage against the available entitlements. If there are not enough entitlements available at any given time, users may be prevented from accessing the software until additional licenses are purchased or existing licenses are returned.

You can also set up alerts or notifications to notify administrators when license usage exceeds a certain threshold or when entitlements are running low. This will help ensure that your organization stays compliant with licensing agreements while minimizing costs.

Thanks
