SAM Pro- Normalization - How the normalization can be done in Dev, Test & Prod?

Team,

I've a query related to normalization. Can anyone please suggest how to do normalization of discovery models in Dev, Test & Prod?

Do we need to do manually in all environments? If yes, it will take too much of time, any other alternative for this?

Or xml import will do the job? here, we are getting installations from different discovery sources such as jamf, sccm etc.,

Please suggest us to go with the best industry practices.

Hi @Shan9 ,

I Belive for SAM Pro there is OOTB normalization for certain products which will help you. But that does not help a lof of time when you have diffrent source of information updating your CMDB, In this situation we always consider creating a custom more Nomalization Rules which will help to normalize the data.

In your case see how much of your data is normalized OOTB and which ever data is not normalized your can action on creating new Normalization rules based on the data on the system. I hope this help !!!

Hi @Sohail Khilji ,

Thanks for your response.

This is all about manual normalization of discovery models. Our query is, lets say we are going to normalize some 1500+ records manually (as no other alternative for this) in DEV environment. Please suggest, how to move this to UAT & PROD? Again, manually or any other option?

Thanks

If you have normalized already and the data looks fine for your XML move is easy to do. else you got to rework on those record in UAT and Prod.

I hope this help...

Before loading through xml, the content service updates the discovery models to get normalized. So, there is a chance of getting duplicates right
