Software Asset Management Reconciliation

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know how can we make a product non-compliant?

Scenario:

I have a software entitlement for a product with 1 purchased rights and 1 allocated device

I used the custom license metric that returns 1 for the rightsfordevice.

When running a reconciliation, the product is compliant,

Is there a way on how I make the result compliant? ex. should i add allocated device? should I return 2 on my Custom license metric?

Hi @MarlonD20,

the definition is based on the "Metric Attributes" provided by the PPN or added manually to a software model, when this is created without an entitlement/PPN as source. Software model fields (servicenow.com)

In this example, which is based on a entitlement with Common/Per Device metric, it doesn't matter how many installations of this software model found per device it will still count as 1 entitlement. If you adjust the "Attribut value", e.g., to 2 it will count for each pair of installation per device one entitlement. Well the "Per Device" isn't a good example - think about "Per User" - when the user is assigned to 3 devices and the value is set to "2", the consumption for this user is "2 active use rights"

Fast way to get an overview about the amount of installations is to create the required software models, run the scheduled job "SAM - Get install count for software model" and add the column "Install count" to the software model view.

Dear @Marlon12

Not bit clear with your question. Do you want to force a product as non complaint ?

If yes, its no possible and its not a appropriate requirement. The complaint and non complaint are calculated based on right avaiable and rights used.

I have created a custom license metric and used it to an entitlement. The calculation is no. of installations for a product, basically, I need to count how many devices where this product was installed. I want to verify how this clm is working or how can I prove that my calculation is correct, I tried to force add in Device allocation so that it will be greater than the purchased rights. Is my methods or steps are correct?
