Software Product/ Model link to CMDB CI

Hi SNC,

I'm wondering how to connect discovered (SN Discovery & ACC) Software Products/ Models to CIs in the CMDB. I'm not referring to the CI that has the Software Installation, but e.g. Database CI hosted by a server.

Should this be done via Asset -> Model, or are there also other ways/ best practise to do this?

Example: I have a VM that is hosting one or multiple databases, the databases will be stored as CIs in the CMDB and the database engine will be discovered as a Software Product on this VM. 

The following components will be in SN:

- VM CI

- Database CI(s)

- CMDB CI Relation records between the VM and Databases

- Software Installation related to the VM

- SAM Pro components (Discovery Model, Software Model, Software Product)

-> the question is how can I connect the Database CIs with Software Products/ Models?

Hope to get some guideline how this can be achieved.

It's very friendly to reply on my question, but unfortunately non of the links are answering my question. 

The links are all related to only CMDB and CI relationships and not Software CI relationship.
