Hello team,
I do understand the concept of normalization on SAM and I aware that sometimes one needs to build the normalization manually.
But, my question is, what are exactly the tables I need to work on so that I can build the normalization manually?
* Custom software products?
* Software product definitions?
* Software models?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Mazin

Hi @Mazin ,
there is no need to do the normalization tasks in any table. The SAM Workspace provides you with all the necessary function normalize your discovery models.
Procedure
1. Navigate to All > Software asset > Software Asset Workspace > License operations > Discovery models.
2. Click a discovery model record that has a normalization status of Partially Normalized, Publisher Normalized, or Match Not Found.
3. Open a data set
4. Fill in the Publisher, Product, and Version fields, as appropriate.
You can create a custom product from the Product lookup list, if desired.
5. Save the dataset. The normalization status changes to Manually Normalized.
Best, Dennis

And do I necessarily need to create a Software Model againsts this Software Discovery Model?
Especially, if my objective is to create a Software Entitlement against this software discovery model.
I appreciate your feedback.

Hi Mazin,
Yes you need to create the software model if you want to create Software Entitlement or if you have the PPN of software model you can check if the PPN you have is matching with what is present in Servicenow content library, if they are matching you can give that while creating ENtitlement and it will create the software model automatically once you provide that on the form. But Software model should be present before creating entitlement as it is mandatory field so either have PPN or create software model in the table.
Mark my answer as correct if it is helpful to you.

Hi @Mazin ,
Most of the data will be normalized by Servicenow content library (>85% in most of the cases). Still if you feel normalization is not correct or want to normalize the records which are important for your organization, then have a list of the publishers/products you want to normalize and then look whether these products are present in Software Products table or not, if they are not present then create the product in custom product table and then select these products on discovery model and normalize the record.
