Hi Team,
We would like to utilize SAAS in SAM Pro without any integration. So we decided to upload software deployment(Subscription list) with excel in samp_sw_subscription table. We tried multiple uploads into this table, but failed many times, here are my questions.
1. While uploading, do we need to keep Software Model in the excel template?
2. If yes, how can we check models for all subscription list?
3. After uploading, data shown in samp_sw_subscription table, but not reflecting under Software models subscription(sometimes it will appear, sometimes its not), reason for this?
4. How the linkage happens this table records to discovery model table? Then only we can check for the reconciliation right?
5. Can anyone please help me to understand the data model for saas in SAM Pro?
Ex : For on premises installs, from install table to dms and then normalize. At other end, licenses linking to models. In this way, it will work, right. Please let us know for SAAS.
Thanks

HI @Shan9,
this is the question every user from the forum is asking when reading your post - for what reason do you want not to use the out-of-the-box features for integrating SaaS providers? Currently 34 providers are supported and more can be easily integrated via the framework.
As you have already noticed yourself, a lot of data is necessary and must be available for a manual integration to work without problems.
When using the SaaS integration, a software model is created based on the subscription identifier and users matching the model, will be linked. All supported identifiers can be found here - Subscription Product Definitions [samp_sw_subscription_product-definition]. Installed with SaaS License Management (servicenow.com).
Discovery model (installation data) is not critical, as compliance for SaaS integrations is based on assigned users. However, it can be used to identify additional installations. Relationship is based on this schema
- Subscription Identifier -> Software Model (based on Content Library)
- Software Model attributes (Publisher, Product, Version, Edition) -> Discovery Model (this covers the onprem installation part).
Once again the recommendation at the end, the use of SaaS integration prevents you many problems and ensures a reliable license balance.
Best, Dennis

Hi Dreinhardt,
Thank you very much for your response, I really appreciate your effort.
Here the situation is, our client's having many SAAS products (arounds 200+), so they don't want to go for the INTEGRATION with SAAS. Instead of this, they want to upload the subscriptions list into SAM Pro and utilize the rest functionality.
Could you please help me in this? In order to go for reconciliation, we need to have the subscription list in the proper table then normalization(if needed).
Please guide me the process to follow for achieving this.
Thanks

Hi @Shan ,
Its easy to do the integration so hat we are not breaking the OOB model. But still if you are willing to do it, then you need to import the excel sheet with Software Model and User details and create transform map and import the data. But iam not sure if it is picked up reconciliation. I have tried in my PDI but reconciliation is getting failed and iam not seeing these results on License workbench also.
PFB answers to your questions:
1.While uploading, do we need to keep Software Model in the excel template? - Yes, you need to keep software model and user in excel template as they are mandatory fields
2. If yes, how can we check models for all subscription list? - You need to create the software models if they are not present already in the system. The model details and everything you need to get from their Asset Management team who have bought licenses from vendor, so ask them to give the details of Product, version and edition details for which they bought the licenses. Once you get all the details check for matching software models, if they are not present in the system already then create one (OOB they will not be available unless they have already created one for tracking entitlements)
3. After uploading, data shown in samp_sw_subscription table, but not reflecting under Software models subscription(sometimes it will appear, sometimes its not), reason for this?- You need to check the transform history if it has skipped any records and your transform map if you have kept colase on any fields and becuase of which the transform map got skipped. Ideally if you provide Software model and User record it would have imported the details.
4. How the linkage happens this table records to discovery model table? Then only we can check for the reconciliation right?- The linkage will not happen to Discovery models, discovery models are created only when installation records are created through Discovery. Software subscriptions are not linked to Discovery models as they are SaaS based models and Discovery Models are for on-premise software which got discovered through discovery
5. Can anyone please help me to understand the data model for saas in SAM Pro?- Didnt get your question , can you elaborate it.
As i said i have tried importing the records in my PDI the records got imported but iam unable to see them on license workbench and Reconciliation is getting failed in my PDI so i cant raise any HI ticket for this but you can try in your client instance with Sample data and see the changes and raise HI ticket to get more clarity from them.
