Hi,

I’m seeking advice on using meta tags in ServiceNow HR Knowledge Articles. Given the varying recommendations from older sources, I would like to understand the best practices for 2024. Specifically, I have a few questions:

 

  1. Ideal Number of Tags: What is the recommended number of tags to use in each article for optimal searchability and relevance?

  2. Tag Formatting: How should tags be formatted when entered into the system? Should they use underscores (e.g., line_manager_notification) or dashes? Additionally, is it preferable to use commas to separate tags, or is this not necessary? Although the system documentation indicates that commas are not required, is there a best practice?

  3. Tag Duplication: What is the recommended approach regarding tag duplication? I have encountered conflicting advice—some sources suggest duplicating tags while others advise against it. What is the best practice for achieving optimal results, and if duplication is recommended, how many times should tags be duplicated?
