Hello,
Please let me know if when implementing approvals by e-mail (so not by using the portal, or expert interface), the approval is counted as a license and needs to be purchased accordingly for the specific user who makes the approval? This user will have only approver_user role.
Thank you,
Mihai Kiss

Hi,
If you are implementing approval using emails then it don't require any additional license cost. But if your are providing the user with approver_user role then it requires a license as this role allows a user to use the approval UI directly for processing approvals.
You can use the OOB "Update Approval Request" inbound action for making use of the email approval feature.

Yes the email approval feature do not require license and all users with an email address can access it. If you want details on the approver_user role, then it best you contact your Service Now sales rep.

So Today, the licensing terms have completely changed. And I believe you would require licensing for email approvals.
Always consult with your SN account manager for any licensing queries.
