If you create a custom application that extends the Task table (so you could do SLAs and reporting) and the only thing you wanted this group of people to have access to is your application and nothing concerning the Service Desk, how would you do it? On the application and module links you can restrict them by roles to grant permission but I want to do the opposite. I want to say "people with this role cannot see this link".
How'd I accomplish this?

See this older thread on an option you have to restrict access to the application modules:
Re: Can I restrict view of application module based on an attribute?
This same approach could work for your use case as well.
