Change Knowledge Categories

Hey there!

I'm wondering, and I'm probably missing something easy, is how do you change the categories that are listed on the main Knowledge View page? I know how to move them around (drag, simple), but can't remember where to add new ones/remove them.

Thank you!

For adding and removing topics from the knowledge base view, I would suggest a careful read of this wiki page:
http://wiki.service-now.com/index.php?title=Setting_up_the_Knowledge_Base

The boxes shown on the Knowledge page are actual "Topics" for the various articles. The wiki page talks about manipulating the topics in the following section: "Adding or Removing Topics".

There are also some System Properties that you can use to manipulate the topics on the main knowledge page. One such property that you may be interested in is: glide.knowman.show_only_populated. This property lets you hide topics from the main page if there are no articles within that topic. This is on by default.

Hope this helps!

Hm... maybe I'm reading it wrong, but this doesn't really lead to adding or removing the Knowledge Catagories to the main page.

The first method for removing the topic from the knowledge base is as follows:

Navigate to Knowledge Base > Edit.
Select one of the records of the topic to be removed.
Right click on the field and select Personalize Choices.
Add or remove the topic, and click save.

Now... when I right click on the "field" (pretty vague) and go to "Personalize," there is no option to "Personalize Choices" or "Choices" anywhere in there. I see Personalize "Form layout" and other options, but no "choices."

Not trying to be difficult... just trying to figure it out! Thanks.

It sounds to me like you've right-clicked on the header bar at the top of the form, not on the field itself. I've attached a screenshot of how it looks on my demo instance. If right-clicking on the field label (the grey bar with the name of the input field) doesn't show you the same context menu, then there might be something different in your instance. Test it against the demo instance if you need to.

Okay, thank you again. I do now see the list (I'm attaching what I see).

This shows the actual choices I can use for the different Topics.

However, on the main Knowledge "View" page, it doesn't show "Desktop" which is second in the "Choice" page. I've attached a picture of the View page as well.

Anyway, what I want is for "Desktop" topic to show up on the main Knowledge View page.
