In an actual ServiceNow product, will the admin impersonating a user be able to make actual changes to that user's ui/settings/work etc, or is impersonation only for the admin to test what the user is able to see or do without impacting the user's account.

Administrators can impersonate other authenticated users for testing purposes
When impersonating another user, the administrator has access to exactly what that user can access in the system, including the same menus and modules. The instance records anything the administrator does while impersonating another user as having been done by that user.

Hi,
Yes changes will be shown as done my the person whom you are impersonating. So if you want to check so later who has made the changes or you want to create a report then it will give a wrong information. Also in the activity log the impersonated users name will show. So you must always inform the person whom you are impersonating to avoid any such issues
Please mark the answer as helpful/correct if it was useful
