Google Chrome crashing when a list view loads on MacOS

When using the latest Chrome stable release (90.0.4430.93 (Official Build) (x86_64)) on MacOS Big Sur (11.3.1 (20E241)), I have been experiencing frequent crashes of Google Chrome when a list view in ServiceNow loads. It doesn't crash every time a list view loads, but it's frequent enough to be a major issue. The entire browser (not just a tab or window) completely crashes and I must relaunch the app afterwards. This seems to happen more frequently if the list view has grouped results, but not always. It can happen when looking at a list, a form with a related list, or a list-based report. There haven't been any changes in the ServiceNow environments I use recently. The only change I know of is that I got the Chrome update the week of 4/26/2021. MacOS had been updated 3/23/2021 (11.2.3) and then 5/4/2021 (11.3.1). This issue started the week of 4/26, if I remember correctly.

I know others have been experiencing this, but has anyone been able to determine the cause or a fix? I doubt it's anything that ServiceNow did recently (this happens in Paris and Quebec for me), but I'm guessing it's related to the latest stable Chrome version.

I have the same issue! It happens a lot. Specially in list view when searching records by using the column search input. But also creating a new record and jumping back to the list can crash.

It happens multiple times a day, on different instances.

Running a M1 Mac.

My entire team is running into the same issue on Intel-based Macs.

Firefox seems to be the only solution at the moment.

Disabling all extensions, browser reset, and even running on a cleanly wiped machine experiences the crash.

Someone mentioned MS Edge crashes as well, it's likely due to both being Chromium based.

Same issue on both M1 and Intel based Macs using Chrome

I opened a support ticket with ServiceNow, they said it's a known bug on MacOS with Chromium-based browsers and are looking for a fix..

Workaround is to use Firefox, no issues whatsoever
