Basically I have a workflow activity that a developer moved into the top corner and I can't move it. It's not a big deal if I can't remove it but I'd really like to be able to. Is there a way to do it from the back end, am I missing something totally obvious, or am I stuck with this activity in the corner?

Hi Amandah,
Good challenge!
- Navigate to Workflow> Workflow Versions.
- Locate and open the record of the workflow you have checked out.
- Add the related list "Activities".
- Find and delete your offending record (mine is shown as "foo" in the image below.)
- Close and re-open your workflow in the editor.
- Mark as New

Chuck saved the day! I had to go to the Workflow Versions to find the activity and delete it from there.

Workflows are tricky on how these are structured behind the scenes. I'll strongly suggest you don't try to hack the internals of how these are defined unless you're really sure on what you're doing.
I can tell you that from personal experience (mistakes) .
