Making Mass Changes in List View of Knowledge Articles

Hello,

We will be moving to Fuji in the next month or so and I fully intend to take advantage of the new multiple knowledge bases.

One of the things I will want to do is migrate a large amount of knowledge articles from the existing knowledge base to the new ones i'll create after the upgrade.

We have upgraded our POC environment so I've been playing around trying to see the best way I can set this up and I haven't been able to mass update any of the fields in the list view.

I can do it in other list views such as mass updating 7 tasks from low priority to Moderate (as you can see below) but I can't do anything of the sort when looking at knowledge articles.   I was hoping I could just highlight the articles and change the knowledge base all at once without having to go in and change each article individually.

Any suggestions on how best to do this would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

Hi Abigail,

The functionality you are describing in the Task list view is also feasible in the Knowledge list view. You or your instance admin should review the ACL for the knowledge table (kb_knowledge) to identify if there if there is an overall list restriction or a field restriction that is keeping you from making mass changes.

Hope this helps.

Good morning,

I am. We are standing up Fuji and after loading some pre-existing knowledge articles from another system the owner needs a group of them moved to the IT Knowledge area.   He did a great job loading the items. Unfortunate they all were dumped in the general Knowledge base. And many of these articles are really technical in nature.

Thanks, John.

Cool. I think this wiki will be helpful:

I did look through that article but it was not apparent what I need to modify so I can do the list editing? I am not seeing what is keeping the Knowledge Base "locked" up.

From the list view of the KB Articles right click and go to Configure > List Control.

Check if List edit type is configured to disable.

in the screenshot above i have it allow list editing but only to Admins.

If this is good go, check ACL and find a rule on kb_knowledge with the "list edit" as the operation. review the conditions that it meets your criteria.

I hope this helps.

Well, I am not sure what happened but earlier when I would open up "configure" the list control options were not there. That was what was messing me up. Now they have appeared and I can edit the list. I think maybe I need to go home. Thanks again, john.
