MID Servers in different locations

Hi there,

what is the best approach for mid servers when it comes down to locations? We utilise automation for IT staff to give themselves access to certain applications which goes over the mid server to add to AD groups. We currently only have this set up in the EMEA region so replication time for EMEA guys is instant but for the rest globally it takes 5 mins or so for replication to hit the domain controllers in their location.

We store location on the user record and was wondering has anyone setup anything that looks at a field that can then check user lcoation and use a local mid server setup on that user site?

The MID Servers should be located on your network that has the maximum visibility to the rest of the network. For example, if your Networks are segmented, put MID Servers in the Prod Network, as it typically has access to the non-Prod Network (and it’s typically not the other way).

If you have a complicated MID Server deployment, then recommendation is to build this out in parallel and switch to a simple architecture, before retiring your existing MID Servers.

Please, let me know if I've answered your questions.

Thanks.

Ideally there should be one MID server installed on every datacenter that you have. It help you immensely when you scale up the instance to include Discovery, Service Mapping, Orchestration (In your case). For better performance make them a part of a load balancing cluster which will enhance the performance
