Integrating Now Assist with ServiceNow's Virtual Agent enhances user interactions by providing intelligent, conversational experiences. Here's how you can set up and configure this integration:
1. Prerequisites:
- ServiceNow Instance: Ensure your instance is updated to Vancouver Patch 2 or later. 
- Licensing: Confirm that your organization has an active Now Assist license. 
- Plugins: Verify that the Virtual Agent and Now Assist Admin Console plugins are installed and activated. 
2. Installing Now Assist for Virtual Agent:
- Access Now Assist Admin Console: - Navigate to Now Assist Admin > Home within your ServiceNow instance.
 
- Install the Plugin: - In the Settings tab, locate Now Assist for Virtual Agent.
- Click "Get Plugin" to initiate the installation.
 
- Activation: - Once installed, ensure the plugin is activated by checking its status in the Plugins list.
 
3. Configuring Now Assist in Virtual Agent:
- Enable Generative AI Experience: - To fully utilize Now Assist's capabilities, enable the generative AI experience for catalog item request submissions.
- Navigate to Virtual Agent > Designer.
- Open the desired topic and enable the Generative AI Experience toggle.
 
- Skill Management: - Within the Now Assist Admin Console, go to the Skills section.
- Activate or configure skills relevant to your Virtual Agent's functions.
 
- Testing: - After configuration, test the Virtual Agent to ensure Now Assist provides accurate and contextually relevant responses.
 
4. Enhancements in Recent Updates:
- Improved Conversational Responses: - With Xanadu Patch 3, Now Assist synthesizes information from multiple search sources to deliver more direct and relevant answers, moving beyond simple lists or carousels.
 
- Expanded Chat Interface: - The chat window has been enlarged to display more information, enhancing user experience.
 
By integrating Now Assist with Virtual Agent, you can provide users with a more intuitive and efficient self-service experience, leveraging generative AI to handle inquiries and tasks seamlessly.
