"Scoped" groups

Something has always bugged me about custom scoped applications and was hoping to see if any others have ideas on how to overcome this scenario.   It's concerning group management.   While application logic is often scoped, groups are considered "global".  

 

Scenario:  You have a custom application, and several groups were created to admin/manage/use the application.

 

Problem:  I would like admins of the custom application to be able to manage the group memberships of these groups.  The application admins should ONLY be able to manage the application groups (i.e. we would rather than give them user_admin...but instead something like user_admin but only for that custom app scope)

 

I really would like to see ServiceNow implement some sort of scoped application group functionality.  But as far as I know that does not exist.  I would like to hear from the community on how you may have implemented something to manage groups designed specifically for use in your custom apps.

You can add this as an idea in the idea portal and the team will pick but yes, it is painful at this time to do like this.

that's correct there is nothing OOB which helps you. you need to handle it at your level using custom solution such as restricting those groups only for your app admin users
